The Olive Branch Café & Catering

The Olive Branch Café and Catering is a family owned business based in Balhannah in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, a short 30 minute drive from the Adelaide CBD.

With over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Chef and owner Nicole McIntosh brings an impressive pedigree to The Olive Branch, having worked in some of Melbourne’s finest establishments, including “Kayes on King” under renowned Chef Annie Smithers and the highly regarded chef’s hat winning “Onions” in South Yarra.

Relocating to the Adelaide Hills in 2001, Nicole was quick to appreciate the abundance and quality of the local produce, which was in no small measure inspiration for establishing The Olive Branch in 2008.

Our Philosophy red-spoon-and-spatula

At The Olive Branch, We’re passionate about all things “fresh” and we’re passionate about our local community.

Our passion for fresh, healthy and great tasting food is well served by our location in the heart of the beautiful Adelaide Hills.

Being surrounded, literally, by an abundance of fresh, great quality local produce, we constantly strive to do justice to our location and showcase “the best of the Hills” through our modern Australian menu of healthy and great tasting classic Café fare, minus the pretense.

Our menu includes a broad selection of dishes, sure to appeal to both “foodies” and those just looking for a great quality, reasonably priced meal.

Local Community

We think the Adelaide Hills is a uniquely awesome place to live and work. Admittedly we might be biased, but we think country communities are the best communities! – and where else in Australia can you truly live in a country town, with all the benefits of a capital city just a half hour down the freeway? (hint: nowhere!, well maybe Hobart, but other than that, …nowhere!)

So we just love our local community and we’re passionate about doing all we can to support the people that support us. And when it comes to supporting our local community, they’re not just words – we do all we can to walk the talk through:

Supporting and showcasing local
Hills art and artists through
providing a gallery space to
showcase and support their works.

Supporting local producers, including
providing space to allow local artisans
and micro-businesses to
showcase their products.

Supporting and showcasing local live music

We support the local music scene, featuring live music through our association with “Club Acoustica” – a collective of local Hills musicians.

Our spacious premises also includes a popular indoor children’s play area; perfect to keep the little one’s safely and happily occupied while Mum or Dad enjoy a little parent time-out over a coffee or a chat.

We also run structured activities for kids, including our very popular supervised craft sessions and school holiday cooking classes.

The Olive Branch is also a proud participant in the SA Government’s Healthy Kids Menu programme – an initiative that encourages venues to offer healthier menu options for children.
